Creating Shared Value
By Mark Stokes:

For 30 years we have focused on Creating Shared Value (CSV). Business can only be sustainable long term if it recognises value AND enables equitable distribution of that value to all stakeholders.

“Give a man a fish you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for a life time” Lao Tsu

I have personally witnessed at first hand in many of the construction industries around the world across the 34 countries and 4 continents I have worked in, profit was extracted at the expense of others.

In simple terms the philosophy that the system operated was – “if I want to make more profit, you will make less”.

There has to be a better way ….. and there is:

At Cornerstone Place we are creating huge enablement through utilising our many decades of Board experience in:
  • Operating high performance businesses
  • Expertise in regenerating commercial property
  • Supporting expertise in the fields of social care
  • Long term sustainable and equitable leases to charities
  • Investment opportunities

In our opinion, any business owner is charged with the social responsibility of establishing value. Business leaders must be the catalyst for ‘Business for Good’ – by our own actions and intent we have the opportunity to set our own culture and to massively and positively impact the lives of others. This is a privilege and an opportunity that should not be spurned.

These fundamentals were one of the reasons I wanted to establish SSAS Alliance 3 years ago and create that impactful independence with our own SSAS, with Nigel Greene, to create a substantial tide of positive momentum and become a multi-layered force for good in all of our businesses and investments alike.

I just love seeing the wheels of compounding turn!

I wrote passionately about this in all 3 of my books (SSAS Pensions, Commercial to Residential Conversions & Advice to Your Younger Self) – I feel that strongly about turning words into actions.

It is at the heart of business sustainability and beyond.

I discussed this with Andy Burnham – The Mayor of Greater Manchester last week at our funding event and we welcome the overwhelming support being provided for our strategy.

At Cornerstone Place we understand the value of unlocking the vast potential of:

Business + Property + Enablement = Social Impact

…. creating huge social impact in areas such as homelessness for those in society who need an initial helping hand to get back on their feet.
